PRACTICAL RESEARCH

Turn each limitation into a research check

QuestionWhat the record supportsNext action
Is this company buying now?Historical recorded shipment activity.Confirm current product needs through company research and a conversation.
Is this the final buyer or factory?A named consignee or shipper role.Resolve the legal entity and business activity.
Is this the full market?Records within the provider’s stated sources and scope.Confirm transport modes, periods, missing fields and coverage gaps.
Are these separate orders?Rows and identifiers in the dataset.Check bill structure, amendments and duplicates.
What did the company pay?A value field only if one is supplied and defined.Confirm the source and basis; do not assume an invoice price.
Will it change supplier?A recorded relationship or change in activity.Investigate product fit, ownership and procurement conditions.
PRACTICAL RESEARCH

Use company names carefully

Preserve the source spelling and address before grouping variations. Similar names can belong to different entities; different names can belong to the same group. Keep unresolved matches visible in your research notes instead of presenting them as confirmed companies.

Shipment roles and business roles are different. A named party can be useful for research even when it is an intermediary, but its role changes the next question you should ask.

PRACTICAL RESEARCH

Choose a useful sample before a larger dataset

Before using the sampleWhat to confirm
Does it match my product?Full goods description, specifications, keyword and relevant code.
Does it identify the right company?Complete party names, available addresses and business roles.
Does the time window fit?Date definitions, available period and gaps or updates.
Can I compare the measurements?Quantity units, weight basis and source of any values.
What can I receive next?Available fields, research scope, delivery format and terms.

Mark each check as confirmed, unresolved or unavailable. If a field essential to your task is unavailable, discuss an alternative scope before choosing the service.
