Company records and trade statistics answer different questions
| Data type | What it can show | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Shipment / declaration records | Consignee, shipper, goods description and shipment details, where available | Company roles, fields, period and transport coverage |
| Bill-of-lading records | Consignee or shipper, goods and transport details, depending on the source | Whether company names are present; values and HS codes may be absent |
| Aggregate trade statistics | Import/export value, quantity, reporting market and partner country | Classification, year and units; no individual buyer directory |
Where can I see an existing company-name sample?
Our existing US sample displays consignee names such as FIRST SOLAR INC, dates, origins and ports. The Indonesia battery examples display importer and supplier fields. These demonstrate particular records, not uniform field availability across all products or countries.
What should I check before buying?
- Does the sample show companies for my product and market, or only country totals?
- Is a name a purchasing company, logistics intermediary, shipper or consignee?
- Which dates, sources and transport modes are covered?
- Are value, quantity, weight and HS fields present in the actual records?
- How are duplicate names, spelling variants and related companies handled?
Are emails and phone numbers included?
No automatic assumption is justified. An importer/exporter name is a company field; professional contact research is a separate service. Ask what contact information is available and under what terms.
